The kids were messing with the PC and now Mercs won't run. I had the PR1 installed and the switcher I've tried uninstalling mercs and then the switcher to which the control panel says it doesn't exist anymore.
I've also tried reinstalling but it looks like when I start the game it wants to run the mek pak movie instead of the regular one and it hangs at that point.

I don't know your machine, on my side, personal files (letters, data and so on) are less then a giga byte and can be stored on one or two CD's. Same for all the driver updates which I have downloaded since I bought it. In anyway personal files should allways be stored in a directory that allows an easy backup.
As you said it, your kids have messed your computer and you even don't know what they have messed else, right? Several times I was asked by friends to help them after their kids have messed their computers. In nearly all cases just finding the errors has cost more time compared with a simple reinstallation. Even when it is just an driver incompatibility and no hidden virus damage on the FAT.
That day of work will also remind you to the first rule of using computers. "Never let it be touched by anybody else then yourself". Did you ever thought about a replaceable harddrive?

Jager makes some good points. Its difficult to say what went wrong. But, if you uninstalled MW4:Mercenaries first and then tried to uninstall the switcher... many of the patched files, and possibly the switcher itself was already removed by the MW4M uninstall. So its not really productive to do the switcher uninstall second. Especially if you manually deleted the mercenaries directory by hand.
It is probably possible to fix what is wrong by reinstalling, but Jager is dead on. It would take a great deal of time to sort it out by hand. Just remove all you MW4Mercs files (copy your pilots and variants), and start over. If that doesnt work, then reformat and reinstall everything. This is not the solution to all or most computer problems, but it works, and saves you from hours of research. speaking of research, read the Mektek switcher and MP1/1.1 help files. Maybe you can avoid a situation like this later.
