"Author FAQ"
Tue Sep-27-05 02:29 PM by crowfoot

Will you publish/post my story?
If it's any good Actually, if you submit it to be edited, it's coherent, and is BattleTech related, chances are good it will make it's way on the site somewhere.

What if I don't want my story posted and just want some feedback on my writing style, storyline, etc?
I will host it on the site and tell people where to look to read and critique it. If you have your own host, feel free to make a post in the Writer's Guild telling people where it is at. They can then post their feedback on your story in that thread. You can also offer to email it to people, although having it hosted somewhere may be more successful.

What format should my story be in?
Preferably, all submitted stories should be in Microsoft Word. However, any other format is acceptable. Just keep in mind that the look of your document may change when it is converted into Word.

What kind of story can I write?
Most of the stories posted here at DropShip Command revolve around unique characters set in a minor arc of the bigger BattleTech storyline. It is probably a good idea to steer away from the use of major characters too much for reasons too lengthy to state here. If you must use a major character, use them sparsely. Alternate storylines and comedy material should be noted as such in some way.

Who do I send my story too?
Your "final" draft gets sent to crowfoot@dropshipcommand.com

Then what happens?
We will review your story and send it back to you with suggestions for changes, or if it's fine as is, we won't send it back to you at all. I take my editing seriously, so be patient. After I am satisified, the story will be converted to PDF. I will post it and make changes to your "author page" as needed.

When will my story be published?
As time permits. We try for one story a week, but sometimes have more than that, but usually have less.

When do I get an author page?
After your first story is published and featured in the front page news.

Why hasn't a story been posted in X amount of time?
One reason may be that there are no stories ready to be posted. They may still be in the editing stage. Sometimes the stories go back and forth a few times. Another reason may be that the side projects that fund this site have gotten delayed somehow. They take priority to make sure the site stays up, so the release schedule may be pushed back.

Thank you for your patience.
