"Mechwarrior MMO Similar to EVE"
|
I think FASA and CCP should hook up and make a MW game similar in design to EVE. There could easily be enough skills to do the real time skill training like EVE has. Furthermore, the Battletech universes Clans, IS houses and other units such as Merchs could work the same way the corps work in EVE. If this world was created I may never leave, heh.

FASA is long gone and the MW MMO was canceled by EA years ago as well. Unless there is great success with MW5 i doubt that there will be much of a MMUMORPUGER demand. The digital version of the franchise has long been just barely treading water with the modding community. While i agree it would be nice to have a MW5 MMO if they went eve's route it would make a lot of people not want to play. That game is just needlessly complex. The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

IMO Microsoft nearly destroyed Mechwarrior with MW4. I hated the game so much I gave it away. Now if the game can be resurrected (with MS out of the picture, they destroy all that they touch) as a cross between MW2 and MW3 then I would be elated I want you for salvage. Your parts, give me them

Oh, I think MechWarrior 5 will be better than any of the previous mech games. My only fear is will it be neutered to fit on X-Box. Mech Assault had no Mechlab, no Joystick support, no First-Person piloting view. I know MS had to have content for their new X-Box, but, removing the key elements that make MechWarrior a great game was foolish.
MechWarrior is a giant-robot piloting simulation. There is better gameplay action in it than most FP-3P shooters even though it is a simulation. Mechlab enhances that gameplay since loadout effects gameplay strategy directly. At the same time Mechlab modifications are easy to learn.
I am replaying MechWarrior 3. What I like about this game that was missing from MechWarrior 4 is for one, you sit farther back in the cockpit so you have a better piloting-mech-feel. Dodging LRMs, shooting SSRM's around corners, and both over hills. Mechs exploding even after shutdown if you were foolhardy. What I don't like about MW3 is the lag-shooting and the gun-bag loadouts where suddenly every mech is an omnimech. MW3 was a great game though.
For MechWarrior 4, well I just wish the 'mechs were a little robot-like in handling. Same for some of the mech's in MW3. They can still move fast while being robot-like, our machines are fast and accurate, but their are physics that can't be avoided involving mass and speed.
