I think FASA and CCP should hook up and make a MW game similar in design to EVE. There could easily be enough skills to do the real time skill training like EVE has. Furthermore, the Battletech universes Clans, IS houses and other units such as Merchs could work the same way the corps work in EVE. If this world was created I may never leave, heh.

FASA is long gone and the MW MMO was canceled by EA years ago as well. Unless there is great success with MW5 i doubt that there will be much of a MMUMORPUGER demand. The digital version of the franchise has long been just barely treading water with the modding community. While i agree it would be nice to have a MW5 MMO if they went eve's route it would make a lot of people not want to play. That game is just needlessly complex.
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

EVE is a good sandbox, but MechWarrior is much more hands-on, preferably on a joystick! If they could make a Mechwarrior MMO with the player factions of EVE and the PvP combat of MechWarrior that would be fun I think.
As for MechWarrior, "just barely treading water", well, that is a misconception. Microsoft lacked the vision to do anything with Mechwarrior after MechAssault and let it stagnate. Even so, MechWarrior has a large fan-base waiting to return to piloting some realistic 'Mechs.
After playing many MMO's and many online multiplayer games I continue to believe MechWarrior is the best natural multiplayer game ever. While it lacks the depth of a fully dedicated MMO (because they haven't made a MechWarrior MMO) it creates the kind of online communities and immersive PvP that most MMO's only dream of.

i would like to see mechwarrior mmo with more character classes than just mechwarriors for those who are familiar with the storyline, here are my suggestions: for the clans: technician/ scientist caste member elemental merchant caste member

I've been playing Eve for over 5 years... it truly is the son of Mechwarrior in so many ways. I pitched Jordan on the idea of an MW MMO using the same structure, he dug the idea but naturally it takes a massive investment and infrastructure to get that off the ground. So no traction there. :p
For something so "complex" their 300k active subscribers makes them a ton of money and they've really grown over the years. I could totally imagine planetary conquest with mechs using a very similar model.
Jumpgate Evolution also looked promising, too bad it died on the vine.

Look at what the guys from Belarussia are doing with World of Tanks, it has been released but is definitely a permanent WiP, with an expected lifespan of around 10 years...and this as a Free2Play/Pay model! If these guys can do something like this with JUST tanks, I am sure someone can do it with mechs! And they have clan wars planned, and territorial conquest modes, and and and etc etc, so IMO the only reason why a good mech game isn't out yet as an MJMO isn't due to a lack of funds, its a lack of motivation from some of the license holders!

IMO Microsoft nearly destroyed Mechwarrior with MW4. I hated the game so much I gave it away. Now if the game can be resurrected (with MS out of the picture, they destroy all that they touch) as a cross between MW2 and MW3 then I would be elated

Oh, I think MechWarrior 5 will be better than any of the previous mech games. My only fear is will it be neutered to fit on X-Box. Mech Assault had no Mechlab, no Joystick support, no First-Person piloting view. I know MS had to have content for their new X-Box, but, removing the key elements that make MechWarrior a great game was foolish.
MechWarrior is a giant-robot piloting simulation. There is better gameplay action in it than most FP-3P shooters even though it is a simulation. Mechlab enhances that gameplay since loadout effects gameplay strategy directly. At the same time Mechlab modifications are easy to learn.
I am replaying MechWarrior 3. What I like about this game that was missing from MechWarrior 4 is for one, you sit farther back in the cockpit so you have a better piloting-mech-feel. Dodging LRMs, shooting SSRM's around corners, and both over hills. Mechs exploding even after shutdown if you were foolhardy. What I don't like about MW3 is the lag-shooting and the gun-bag loadouts where suddenly every mech is an omnimech. MW3 was a great game though.
For MechWarrior 4, well I just wish the 'mechs were a little robot-like in handling. Same for some of the mech's in MW3. They can still move fast while being robot-like, our machines are fast and accurate, but their are physics that can't be avoided involving mass and speed.
